Hi Guys

Just installed the Jcomments component went flawlessly soemthing like this should really be in joomla's core!

Just a quick question though I would really rather use my own readmore button rather than the deafult text link that the component adds.

Is there a way to switch it back?

Yes, you can. You can setup their style in JComments template (set them same as in your Joomla's template), you can disable using JComments' readmore link, you can fully rework JComments links template and make links as you wish...

Note: you can disable using JComments styles for Readmore in JComments content plugin params...
