Hello, I use Joomla 2.5.3 and I try to install Jcomments component but ther is this error in backend after upload : 404 - An error has occurred component not found Back to control panel
And it's impossible to install by ftp.
In backend installation, (management), the component name appears well but I can not uninstalled. And in my FTP and database, there is nothing jcomments ! very strange.
Do you know if is it possible to install the component manually via ftp?
Thank you for your answers

Hello,
Sorry, I don't see this response. My server is Gentoo
After several installation test, unable to install the component !
I've delete alls files in my ftp server but in the backend extension management, I see them and I can't delete them because it does not find the path, of course.

@Mitch: do you use some 3rd party system plugins? may be SEF or some security plugins? Or you have clear Joomla 2.5 installation without 3rd party extensions?

hello, I have never been able to properly install JComments. I think I make mistakes and I delete the tables in the data below, the component is not installed but it appears in joomla extensions. There is someone who can look on my backend if I give you my access backend and database?
Thank you for your response. Mitch

hello, Well, I was a little put aside this problem but I back it. Component is totally uninstalled and I deleted the jcomment sentries in the tables __Menu and __extensions but still impossible to install! Does anyone has already installed JComments 2.3.0 stable on Joomla 2.5.6 ? Do you have a solution? Thank you very much for your help

Well, I installed JComments on another site and it works very well.
So what are we troubleshooting here? The component or the site? Look, I beta-tested this component for months. I have installed it dozens of times. It does install if the server and Joomla are working properly. Let me say this again: the component installer works fine. You have a problem, but the fault is not with the component. JComments says: Ce n'est pas ma faute!

hello, I know that the problem is not the component since I installed it in 2 minutes on a second site and it works perfectly. I do not doubt the component, of course. I want to know why my installation does not normally on the first site, and if someone already solve it. thank you

So essentially you are asking us to fix your site, right? Do I need to explain the basic problem with this proposition?

I get the same 404. My hosting partner can't find anything wrong with the server.
Why can't I install JComments on my Joomla 2.5.9???
Any suggestion on what might be causing this?
Thanks, Bjørnar
