Hey Guys,
The Jcomments Blacklist feature does not work.
Jcomments settings: Enable blacklisting => YES I blocked on the frontside an testuser (IP). I see that his IP has listed in the blacklist.
When i go to my website with his computer on his IP address, i get the a message that i'm banned.=>> So i cant add comments, but when i log in with an account, i dont see this message anymore and i can add comments.
SO the blacklist feature works when a user is not logged in.
In the administrator panel you can't add an IP to block. This doenst work eather.
gr Osman

So it does work. It doesn't work the way you thought it worked. Right?

OK, here we can say a "not a bug, but a feature". You do not understand me. If someone is blocked, it does not matter if he is logged or not. He simply not allowed no longer send messages. But now he can! Did you ever test this?

I understand you perfectly well.
You, however do not understand how this feature works. For some reason you think that logged in users should not be able to post if they come from a banned IP. Well, this is not how this works. IP ban is for anonymous users only. There is a good reason for it. There may be occasions when different users come from the same IP. Implementing the IP ban the way you think it should be done, would have locked out all of those users.
The discrepancy is in your idea how IP ban works and how it actually works. And, yes, this feature was tested.

Well, this is really not my territory. I may have ideas, but it wouldn't be my place to give them to you. This is where the developer - smart - comes in. Let's wait for his advice.

If user is not logged the blacklist feature checks only user's IP. If user is logged the blacklist feature checks pair IP and User ID. In some cases big company could have one extenal IP and if we want to ban one user from this company we have to check pair, not only IP.

I had a similiar problem.... an annoying message in the backend about " Blacklisting is disabled in Component settings and is not being used!" Even when it was enabled!!!! To solve it, in the "#__jcomments_settings", you have to check if it's enabled. I had 3 records, one of them with enabled=0... the problem might be related with the multilanguage. Since the wrong record has no language Tag. Thanks, great component! I love it Anibal Sanchez http://www.prieco.com
