I upgraded Jcomment to 2.3.0 today on a Joomla 1.5.26 website. The comments do not show in the backend after the upgrade and the browser just keeps spinning when you select the backend "comments" menu item. The only to stop the browser is to click on another menu item.

Help please!

What about the frontend? Do comments show OK in the front?

Anyway, here's something to try:
1. enable Joomla's error reporting, set it to maximum.
2. uninstall JComments, watch for errors.
3. make sure no JComments files or folders are left behind
4. install JComments again, watch for errors.
5. test the operation, watch for errors.
6. sett error reporting to normal.

Comments do show up in the frontend but only one comment appears in the backend and the my Internet browser is still trying to complete painting the page. In order to break out I must "click" on a JComment menu item to stop the browser.

I did as you say and uninstalled with debug on. During uninstall a message said that several language ini files could not be deleted.

They are:

It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.com_jcomments.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_content_jcomments.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_editors-xtd_jcommentsoff.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_editors-xtd_jcommentson.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_search_jcomments.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_system_jcomments.sys.ini'
It was not possible to delete the selected file.: 'en-GB.plg_user_jcomments.sys.ini'

I looked at the files in my Joomla CMS install after uninstall and the first language file listed about was still there so I deleted it. All other language were not there.

No trace of JComment in the rest of the file structure.

Reinstalled Jcomment:

no erros show up in the backend when I had Jcomment installed. I also viewed the mysql error log, apache access and error logs, and linux messages log -- Nothing!

Same behavior: backup click on "comments" The title field appears but otehr fields are "grey" color and no data. I never see more than the first title of the first comment and the Internet browser keeps spinning.

This is weird.

One more item: in backend , settings, captcha this field is disaabled.

I can supply you with credentials to get into this website if you wish.

CAPTCHA field is normal. If there are no alternative CAPTCHA plugins installed there is noting to chose from so the chooser is not enabled.

The message about the language files is alright. this is consistent with what I saw many times on my server and no problem in operation.

There seems to be some sort of a DB miscommunication.

Before sending me login info, see if clicking on "Refresh Objects" fixes it although I do understand you may have a slim chance of getting to clicking on it.

Thank You for your time on this!

I tried to refresh the browser several times as advised with no positive result.

I also went into the database and viewed the tables of Jcomment and did not see any corruption in the fields.

There are 7 comments, yet only four show up in the Jcomments Latest module on the site that has a parameter set at "5" for number of comments to show.

Will send credentials if "ok" with you.

Before we get to the credentials, could you please check if your #_jcomments table has lang column and that its actually populated with language codes?

Yes, just PM me the login. I can take a look, but promise nothing.

Thank You for any help you can provide. This is not the only site with this problem so fixing this site may solve a larger problem. Perhaps this is a server software problem .

I will send credentials.

smart, did you resolve this problem? I've upgraded to 2.3 and I don't see any comments on backend either. What I have to do?

@miooh: You have to press Refresh Objects button in Comments section of the JComments' backend. If comments will be not shown in backend you can check this topic: The comments do not appear in the administration side)

Refresh button doesn't work. I've tried to use query execution, but it doesn't solved my problem. I don't know what to do now...

@miooh: Contact me via PM and give me access to your site's backend (if you could do this). I will look to this issue myself and I will try to help you.
