Please advise about the following issue:

A user told me this week that he could not post because he was prompted to enter his name, but he had done so. I tested this, and it happened to me, too.

So I upgraded to version 2.3.0. The installation resulted in errors, which you can see in the attached. in practice, the "add comment" link disappeared on all stories, and the Latest Comments module was gone with the new version.

So I downgraded to version 2.0.2.2. The problem with requiring a name when one has been inserted remains.

Please advise. Thanks.

With so many installation errors, I can imagine to expect any functionality.
You must get a clean installation first, then we'll talk.

I tried the installation again and got the same errors.

How shall I get a "clean installation"?

Me think you have a problem with your server.
Open the server error log and see if there are any errors pertaining to the JComments installation.
Make sure the TMP folder is specified and is writable.
Well, the server may be screwed up in innumerable ways so it's tricky to tell without having any access to it.
Good luck.

Thanks you. I will take a look.

But since I have reinstalled the earlier version successfully, without errors, why do you think users cannot post even though they have inserted their names? that's the original reason I am seeking help.
