I am trying to use Jcomments with the flexicontent component. Flexicontent sets up its own com_flexicontent component which I am using as the content source in the Jcomments module. When I enable the Jcomments module, it works fine using the mode "show latest comments" but when I try to use any of the other modes of the module, it just isn't showing anything.

Is this an error because of the way that flexicontent restructures the section/category/article structure into their own category/sub-category/item structure?

Has anyone else tried using Jcomments with Flexicontent?

I looked at the mod_jcomments.php trying to see if there was something different in the other mode's functions in the PHP, but given that the latest comments function is working with flexicontent I'm at a loss.

Anyone have ideas? I'm I being blind to something really simple?

Thanks,
Josh.

The "Show latest commented content" and "Show most commented content" modes are work only for standart com_content component and its objects.

All other modes ("Show latest comments", "Show latest unpublished comments" and "Show popular comments") will work with any component which has integration with JComments. You need only correctly fill the source parameter.

Hi,

As Sergey said it to you just have to set the source

For information I use it on FLEXIcontent's website and everything functions properly ;-)

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Emmanuel, I think we need make plugin to support FLEXIcontent's objects in JComments (getting correct url and object's title by its id). But as I saw FLEXIcontent doesn't have any fixed field for title... So I don't know how JComments will retrieve information about title of commented object in FLEXIcontent. Without such plugin JComments Latest module couldn't display object's title and get correct link to it.

Hi Sergey,
I did it Smiley and it's already in FLEXIcontent's component. Have a look to component/com_flexicontent/librairies/jcomments
The plugin is in the folder. It's automatically added to Jcomments plugin folder if not already inside, but it will be of course better if it's directly in your component.
I should contact you for a long time already, but I'm always in a hurry (Eric Lamy gave me your email).
Just advise me if you put it in your next release.
If we could enhance the support beetween our two components if would be great (eg comment count in the items view, access to comments on each item).
We definately follow the same philosophy in terms of flexibility and integration to the existing systems and it should be cool to enhance the concept :-)
Cheers,
Emmanuel.
