Hi guys,

This is not so much a feature request as much a feasibility request?
I really like the way www.pcpro.co.uk does it articles with phpbb2 and I'd like to duplicate something like that for phpbb3 and joomla.

What it would involve is that whenever an article is posted into joomla, it would post a secton of that article into a newly created topic in a designated phpbb3 forum. This would appear in quote bbcode to lock out spiders from seeing duplicate content. The "number of comments" would be taken from the replies to that post and to see the comments on an article (or at least to maybe see more then the top 5) it would take you straight to the forum page.

In my opinion this allows for more discussion on the articles as when you go to the forum you'll see the latest topic at the top of the forum based on the most recent comment, rather then when the article was posted.

So my question is, whether it would be easier to build this kind of thing entirely from scratch or hack Jcomment to do this instead?

Interesting approach.

However, this is not really what coders here are to develop. This is maybe a rocketheme developers feature for their RokBridge component.

BUT if this new feature could go on development schedule, we would very much like to add a new "Post in forum" link integrated in the "Read more.." link. This sould be easy I guess Smiley

Regards,
Danny

Personally I think it would be best to connect JComment and phpbb without a bridge. You simply need joomla to post topic in a forum using some kind of administrative account.

Yeah I really like the "Post in Forum" idea and it would be a more generic way of doing things that normal JComment users could use. Then for our specific forum we'd have an option to "Always post in Forum"

I wasn't thinking it would be something the JComment developers did, I was thinking it would be something we'd develop for JComment ourselves as JComment and Posting all comments in the forum, are two very different solutions to a similar problem. The reason why I liked the idea of using Jcomment, is that if we could get it working with Jcomment then it would also work with everything JComment is integrated with (Such as VirtueMart)

How were you thinking "Post in Forum" would work?

Could this be used with Jfusion 1.2.0 http://www.jfusion.org/index.php/info/blog/JFusion-1.2.0-Released.html  and phpBB 3.0.6 ?  Kiss
