I want my usersto be able to subscribe to a comment list when there are no comments postet yet, so that they'll get notified when the first comment is posted. It'll be useful to the author of the content.
Can this be done? Perhaps by altering the code?

This function would be available in upcomming JComments version. But only authorized users can use this function, so it will not available for guests.

What happened to this function? Is it still planned to be developed?  Smiley

this function already available in JComments 2.1 but as I wrote before - only for authorized users... Guests can't subscribe without leaving at least one comment.

Wow, that's great!  Grin But I can't understand how to subscribe. I can't see a link to subscribe anywhere. How would you go about to subscribe to a commentlist when there are no comments?  Huh

Is there an answer for this question?

How to subscribe to comments on an article BEFORE any comments are posted

I'm running version 2.0 but I'd like the option to allow the article author to subsribe to comments before any comments are submitted as is available in version 2.1

I'm having a problem with version 2.1 in my site as posted here:
http://www.joomlatune.com/forum/index.php/topic,842.new.html#new

but if the functionality is available in 2.1, then that would give me added incentive to get version 2.1 working with my site Smiley

From what I've gathered, this function wasn't developed in 2.1. There seems to be a way to do it with some "on AfterEvent" command in the plugin file, but I have no idea what that means. If you know php, perhaps you can figure it out? Wink
There also seems to be a plugin called "Autosubscriber" in closed beta testing stage, so I guess we have to wait for that.

yes, you are right... please, wait some time... JComments and all it plugin developed by only one person, and I haven't so much time to made all things at one moment (I've got family, work and need some time to rest). The nearest plans about JComments are:

1. Release new version of JComments 2.1.x
2. Release JComments Top Posters module
3. Release JComments AutoSubscribe plugin
4. Release JComments ContentPlugins plugin (allows use content plugins in comments)

I didn't know you develop this alone  Shocked You really have done a lot by yourself! Great work!
But I hope you can find a partner to develop this with you, so that you don't have to spend so much time for it to evolve.

Hi ,

I need a system where users can subscribe to an article and not leave a comment.
I got the idea that Jcomments would fit but I can't figure out how.
Does anybody has an idea how to get this working?

Thanks,

Tom
