Can't post comment

Hi

Installation: Joomla 1.5.8
Template: JA_Purity


Installed JComments and this workd at first.

Then I had a problem where after hitting the submit button, the timer would turn round forever and the comment does not get posted.


I uninstalled JComments which is a shame because it looks nice.

Then I tried K2, but I have the same problem.

This makes me think that I can maybe get J Comments working after all.

Have now upgraded Joomla to 1.5.10 but getting same problem with K2

Can you think of any possible fixes to get comments working?

thanks. My site is www.dpquiz.co.uk

I put up one quiz per day and ask people to leave comments for answers. Today's quiz is http://www.dpquiz.co.uk/dr-pauls-daily-quiz/dp-quiz-music-round/250-dp-quiz-music-round-002.html

This is maybe a difficult problem to solve because sometimes the comments work and sometimes they don't! But I would really appreciate if you could have a look and see what you think.

Oh, this is very old error that solved in upcoming release. It related with cross-domain AJAX query. In your site configuration site path specified as dpquiz.co.uk but in links it used as www.dpquiz.co.uk. For browser these urls are different and it blocks AJAX queries from www.dpquiz.co.uk to dpquiz.co.uk.

If you want I can give you release candidat of JComments 2.1 that hasn't this problem.

So, it looks like you have a solution but I wonder if there's something I can do to my site configuration that will help me with other plugins?

I experienced the very same problem with another extension (K2) so I decided that it was probably something to do with my setup.

I have never fully understood www or the lack-of www and what it really means.

So is it a simple matter for me to change things in my configuration? What would I have to do?

If not, then yes please, if I could get the release candidate of the new version, that would be cool, I would be happy to try it out because right now I'm not getting any commenters anyway! Comments is all I need to get my site where I want it to be in the close future so whatever works is good for me.

The simpliest way to fix this issue is add these lines in .htaccess file on your site:

Hey Smart - thank you VERY much - I fixed this by similar means (don't know if its exactly the same syntax as your fix) but it's all better and now my whole site is one way (non-www). I got the details I used from somewhere else but it's thanks to you that I was able to identify the problem. So many thanks!

I have the same problem, sortof. I can't find anywhere in any config on the joomla site or the web server that says hastgute.se but when I check the source there it is =) Everywhere else it is www.hastgute.se as it should be.

var jcomments=new JComments(46, 'com_content','http://hastgute.se/index.php?option=com_jcomments&tmpl=component');

I tried the htaccess-solution but then I just get an error (I think it was the 500-error). I'm on a windows server with apache installed, maybe that's why it won't work?

edit:
It seems like the error only occur when I try to comment an article that's on the front page. I can live with that, but how do I remove the comment-link from articles only on the front page? Maybe I'm just too tired and too unexperienced with joomla to see the obvious, but I've looked everywhere I can think of with no result =)
