I have looked and looked and can't figure this out. Where do I adjust the settings so that my users can post a comment immediately, without me having to review and approve each comment?

I am sure I will feel silly when this is pointed out to me, but I have spent several hours over the last week trying to figure this out on my own. (I do not have a background in computers and might be in over my head!)

Yes, you can. You've enable Autopublish on Permissions tab in JComments settings (do not forget to enable autopublishing for each usergroup you want to post comments without pre-moderation).
