I would like to set up commenting on k2 cats only.  Not on each individual article.

I sell a product based solely on a picture using K2 and simplecaddy(a paypal mod).  I have about 100 different item variations broken down into 6 distinct categories.  I would like people to make comments only on the cat and not on each item.  Any way to implement this?

Cheers,
Pockets

Piece of cake....

Make an Joomla Article (put in some wished text, or just a horisontal rule).
Then make a Joomla menu link and link to that Article.

Then list your K2 Category via some K2 module and put module in position before content (that Article).

To prevent confusion with names, name that Article as you named K2 Category. (for comments listing in Jcomments admin panel)

Thanks BBC, perfect.  I did something a little different while waiting for a reply and it worked well for my main cat but will use this method for my sub-cats. Thanks

What I did for my main cat is this.... I made my home default a k2/cat with sub cats...(I'm working on a k2 store).  In the main cat I've created an article as my comment article(with text in this case).  Your method will work with my subcats. (Although now looking at it...I think I'm going to have to move it all to a different module and not use the mainbody of the page for this to work)

I also have one jcomment adjustment I'm missing somewhere and probably good for another thread but I'll throw it out here and see if you come back with a quick reply  Wink

Generally you don't need to click a link to expand the comment box and/or see the comments...Where the heck is that setting?

under " Show/Hide comment form. If you choose Hide, then by default only the link to a post's comment will be shown and by clicking on it the comment form will appear." I have it set to yes but it doesn't show.

(screenshot of settings attached)
Also you can see it live at

Thanks

Problem is i think that you want show comment box in K2 Item Intro.
And it is not possible, as i know.
You can show just that link.

You will have to use Joomla Article for that. Or find some way to show detailed K2 Item view in Category listing.

If you try to make K2 template override and force comments to show there, you will destroy for whole category template.

Something important.....You have to name Joomla Article as your category or subcategory.
Because of SEO and Google. That menu link to an article matters.
