Joomla 1.5.21
JComments 2.2.0.2

I have been using jcomments ever since i found it on the joomla extension website and never faced any problem untill recently i noticed nobody was posting any comments and it was because they couldn't!  Sad

Every time you try to post a comment, with all fields correctly entered, you'll get the 'please enter your name' error.  I LOVE jcomment and want to stay with it. Please help me out.

No matter what i put in any or all of the fields, it just doesn't seem to know that there is something in the textbox. Is it because of the joomla version? I couldn't register on this website using 1.5.21 so i used 1.5.20.

Thanks in advance

Show me your site, please. Also you could search forum for this error message - there are some topics about same issue and some of them has solutions.

Dear rush001,

I had exactly the same problem: JComments was working very well... and out of a sudden, it did not work any more. On attempts to enter a comment an alert appeared "Please enter your name".

I solved the problem by disabeling the "Mootools upgrade" plugin (which I had enabled some time ago, without knowing that this would lead to conflicts with JComments.

My JComments version is 2.0.2.2, my Joomla version ia 1.5.23.

Kind regards,

Christian Geiselmann

I have this same issue, jComments works when I disable mootools, but gets the "Please enter your name" or "Please enter text of your Comment" error.

However mootools is necessary for other important aspects of my site to work.  Is there any fix for this so that I can use jComments with mootools enabled?

Thanks!

Try to disable Mootools Upgrade only - most extensions and template features will work without it...

Of course, that was the first thing I tried and it caused important functionality on my site to not work. That is why I was asking - is there a solution to this problem other than disabling mootools? It is not an option for me to disable mootools upgrade.

I've started having this same problem and the Mootools Upgrage plugin is, and always has been, disabled.  Is there possibly an issue with the Joomla 1.5.24 upgrade?

Site is http://www.bradygill.com

UPDATE:  I'm leaving this up in case it helps someone else.  I fixed this issue by restoring an old copy of the tpl_form.php file.  Something happened to corrupt it and I got the error message.
