Hi - is there a way to export my comments so that I can re-import them into Disqus? I've tried installing the migrator on Joomla Extensions, but I think that's for migrating from Joomla 1.0 to 1.5?

And....it won't install anyway! Says the .xml file is missing...

Any ideas?

Thanks

1. No, the JComments has no such feature and I'm not going to add it.
2. The migration plugin allows to migrate comments from Joomla 1.0 to Joomla 1.5. You needn't install it - just unpack and read the Readmore.php file for instructions.

Ok, thanks.

Possibly something you might want to re-think. I'm sure as people learn that you can't export, they'll side with Disqus instead for the flexibility. No one likes locking themselves in these days. There are new competing products on the market all the time these days. People want flexibility and the option to move. Flexibility is great value, and people vote for more value if both are free.

That's going to be a real deal clincher for many people...

I've made big work to allow users to migrate from other commenting systems to JComments. If anyone want to allow them to migrate to his own commenting system - he should do same thing. If Disqus' developers want to get more users they could create appropriate solution for migration. But this must be their work, not mine.

I'm going to add export feature but its main goal would be backuping of comments. I'm not sure that I'll make this in nearest version but it would be implemented ASAP.
