How to update jComments?

I'm using 2.1.0.0 at the moment and want to update to 2.5.6.
I used Extensions - Install/Uninstall on my Joomla backend and it said Module install success. However when I go to the jComments component, the version is still 2.1.0.0
I'm assuming it's something simple that I'm doing wrong.
If I uninstall the old version from Extensions - Components, will I lose my present comments.
Any help - much appreciated.

'2.5.6' - this is module version, not component... You need download JComments 2.2.0.2 component and install it.

No, all comments and settings would be saved. They are stored in database and JComments doesn't remove them during uninstall/reinstall.
