Is it possible to filter the ip numbers in the reaction's.

Yes, that would be nice, I tell you. Often times I just want to block an entire country. It does seem, however, that there would be a way to do this indirectly as well through your hosting provider (though that is going to block your whole site landing pages.)

Is this something that can be done on shared hosting accounts? I'm getting swapped with Russian and Polish entries that really make me nervous.

You could disable access for whole IP ranges via htaccess

Hosting companys will allow you to block coutries.
