Try to set Content - Plugin access level to Registered - in this case plugin will not attach comments list to articles for guests.

Thanks very much for your reply. Unfortunately it won't solve the issue for this particular site. The reason is, the site is also an online store. So there will be registered users (to buy products), who are not necessarily members (so they cant read the special member pages). So changing the access level to Registered, will help a bit (so non registered users couldnt see the comments) but once they buy a product (but not sign up to be a full member), they would then be able to see the comments (which we can't have).
Also, what my client ideally wants are comments on certain non member / free pages and comments on certain member only pages.
So I guess a plugin bridge needs to be written between JComments and OSE Membership Manager?
