Hi,

First I'd just like to say how happy I am using JComments, it's a great extension.

I'm using a membership control extension, so that only members can view certain articles. It all works fine but unfortunately when I use the JComments plugin with a member only article, the comments are still displayed for non members.

Can something be written to get this working please?

The membership control developer details are;

http://membership.opensource-excellence.com/

Their support email is - tickets@opensource-excellence.co.uk

And the main support contact is: Helix.

Hope you can help!

Thanks,
Bob.

Try to set Content - Plugin access level to Registered - in this case plugin will not attach comments list to articles for guests.

Hi Smart,

Thanks very much for your reply. Unfortunately it won't solve the issue for this particular site. The reason is, the site is also an online store. So there will be registered users (to buy products), who are not necessarily members (so they cant read the special member pages). So changing the access level to Registered, will help a bit (so non registered users couldnt see the comments) but once they buy a product (but not sign up to be a full member), they would then be able to see the comments (which we can't have).

Also, what my client ideally wants are comments on certain non member / free pages and comments on certain member only pages.

So I guess a plugin bridge needs to be written between JComments and OSE Membership Manager?

Cheers,
Bob.

I'm not familiar with OSE Membership Control so I need some additional information about it's behaviour. When some user has no rights to view article - it will recieve some message and redirected to homepage or article's content is hidden? I couldn't understand how to user could view comments if he have no permisisons to article.

Hi again.

You're right, it shows a message like 'sorry but the rest of this article is for members only' and hides the rest of the article. The {jcomments} plugin code is in the part of the article that is hidden but for some reason, the comments are still being shown.

I've PM you the URL page. Thanks!
