For security reasons and in order to trace back those who added a comment in violation of law, it would be nice to be bale to set  (optional) email address verification for non registered users who leave a comment

I do not want users to be registered in Joomla to leave comments, but I would like to have a way to be able to know that the email address is verified and not fake.

Thanks.

Yes, this feature will be implemented through JComments plugin. I already have such plugin but it needs to be properly tested before public release. It is based on idea (and some portions of code) from this topic: e-mail validation.

Since email validation through a mail server is not reliable, beacuse many mail server will accept email for non existing users, I was actually thinking that it would be best to send an email to the user and having him/her click on a link to validate the comment (one click validation!). The code may be smart enough to ask (**optionally**) for validation once per email, so that subsequent comments by the same user do not need to be necessarily validated.

If the email is not published online, it may difficult for another user to spoof the email of a user that has been approved already.

Keep on with your great work!

Hm... This is good idea! I'll add this suggestion to my ToDo list and I'll implement this in nearest future! Thank you!
