Here's a suggestion for the installation guide: it's always a great idea to mention which folders should have their security settings adapted for the installation. Not knowing which ones have to be write enabled will always lead to some annoyance, sooner or later. It's not really a big deal, but still... This is something that should be a universal requirement for all installation guides, really, but is most often omitted.

Thank you for your suggestion! The JComments installation guide already has list of folders that needs write permissions.

Duhhh...  Shocked completely looked over it. Apologies. Has to do with all these seperate installation files. Maybe it would be useful to put more info in the installation guide as such, so that all the installation issues to get going are grouped there (such as which zipped files to install).

Still, it seems that with one of the installations, I also had to enable /administrator/modules/ , not mentioned in the list. Is that right?

No, this folder doesn't during JComments installation
