Updated the extension - still no notifications. Plus I have this 'username is already in use' error coming up, preventing comments.

Does it check IP in addition to email?
No, it doesn't check email but it will not send notification if email of comment's author is same as in subscription (authors will not recieve notifications about their own comments). In other cases all subscribed users must recieve the notifications. But sometimes these emails can be marked as spam by some spam-fiters on mail servers (may be because typical message template?).

Email of comment's author wasn't same as subscription. I checked spam box but there wasn't any email. Registration component sends confirmation mails successfully but Jcomments doesn't.  Sad

I tested it again and found the issue. Comments doesn't published automatically for non-logged users on my site. I write a comment to article as non-registered user and checked "notify me" box. It was unpublished. Then, i write another msg as visitor. Mail didn't came to me. And i logged in then wrote another comment. Mail was sent to my mail adress that write on first comment.

Comments must be published for sendind notification mails.

Yes, only administrator notifications would be sended for unpublished comments. This is because registered users has no rights to publish so they can't read unpublished comments.

But there is another issue - then administrator publishes comment from backend (with frontend all works) JComments doesn't send notifications for comments subscribers. This issue has been already discussed on forum and quick solution was posted. The fix will be included in upcoming JComments version.

Maybe your web host has some weird anti-spam filter.

I cannot get notification emails to work if auto-publishing is switched off ...
