Hi All, Thanks for this plugin, I really am grateful.
One thing though, is it common for the 'notifications' not to work?
I entered my email address in the right place in the back-end:
Notifications > Enable notifications Yes > E-mail for notification - (entered)
The address is correct and I checked the junk folder of my email. No luck. I'm afraid that I'll lose great potential return traffic that could be generated if people know their comment has been replied to.
Thanks, John

You will not recieve notification if you post comment from same e-mail as you entered in backend. I'm using notifications feature on our demo site (demo.joomlatune.com) to read users' comments.

Hi Smart, Thanks for the reply!
So do you think non-administrators/guests will get a notification when I reply to their posts?

I tested this last query again - no joy. I wonder why it won't send an email?

So do you think non-administrators/guests will get a notification when I reply to their posts? The user will get notifications only if they are subsribe to them. The emails listed in JComments settings - this is administrative notifications list and they will recieve notifications even if their owners doesn't subscribed.

No, for some reason they don't get notified after they subscribe.
Sorry, I don't understand the second part of your answer:
"The emails listed in JComments settings - this is administrative notifications list and they will recieve notifications even if their owners doesn't subscribed."

Hi, I really can't get notifications to work. It's switched on. Does anyone else have this problem?
I want to stick with this system instead of JomComment (which I have a license for) because it doesn't have 'threading', or 'tree' layout. JomComment does have notifications however.
This is the only issue I need to fix on JComments. Could it be a conflict of extensions or something?
John

Contact me via PM and give me access to your site's backend. I'll check all settings and try to help you.

Hello,
Same problem for me. I use SMTP mail on Joomla general configuration. Does Jcomments use php mail or that on joomla general settings?

Comments use Joomla's settings and sends emails through Joomla API Does it check IP in addition to email? Because i wrote 2 comments with different mail adresses that i've, selected "notify me" from same IP but it didn't send mail. Other components send mail via my site successfully.

Does it check IP in addition to email? No, it doesn't check email but it will not send notification if email of comment's author is same as in subscription (authors will not recieve notifications about their own comments). In other cases all subscribed users must recieve the notifications. But sometimes these emails can be marked as spam by some spam-fiters on mail servers (may be because typical message template?).

I'm using notifications on demo.joomlatune.com and recieve about 20-30 emails per day without any problems. Send me your site address to PM and I'll try to subscribe for comments on your site and will test notifications.
