JComments is a remarquable component.

However, I was wondering if there is a possible to add only the thumbs up/down link to a category without the comments.
That means users would only be able to vote without the possibility of leaving comments.

This question has propably been answered. If so I can find it. Sorry.

JComments has no support voting for commented objects. It allows voting for users' comments only. You could setup which user groups can vote for comments in component settings. And this feature doesn't require to leave comment. You could test it on our demo site: http://demo.joomlatune.com
