Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to sort comments by "Date Descending".  In other words, most recent comments appear the top.

Thanks,

This option is available only for plain list layout and doesn't available for tree layout...

Thanks.  It would be cool if you could sort by date descending for tree layout.  I realize that would be kind of weird, but it would be nice to have.  I don't really like seeing the first comment at the top because it's always in the same spot.  By having comments appear in most recent at the top, the comments are more interesting.  It gives it a more up-to-date feel.  I don't know if that makes any sense. lol

I've been up all night. XD

Thanks again,
-Neil

It seems to me that this sorting are not very appropriate for tree view. The comment levels 2 and deeper are look strange. In default sorting we read the discussion in a natural way - read the first message, then go down below and read the answers to them, etc. If we will change the order, we'll first see responses to some comments, not yet knowing what exactly comment author. This is the same as the first read reviews, and then the article itself.

Has any more thought been put in this?

I'm looking for a comment system that sorts all level one comments by date with the newest first. any replies are nested under the original comment oldest to newest. any comment that gets a reply gets put on the top of the level one list.
like facebook, i guess...

The upcoming JComments version has 3 sorting modes: date asc, date desc and combined (first level will be sorted by desc but the second one - by date asc.

Will the users be able to select the way the comments sort, or is it from the back-end only?

This version allows ordering change from the backend only but I am going to add such feature to frontend too. May be in next major version.

Sorry, but I am never publish the development versions. They are available only for closed group of testers. I am not greedy but I do not want to publish versions which are not ready.  They are available only for closed group of testers who have strong developer skills and helps me test JComments for about 3 years. These people know JComments code so good as I and that's why I can give them even unready or nonstable version.

Tried to mess with the code to do it myself. I think I had a pretty good idea but didn't really know what I was doing :/
We're approaching a deadline and I'm wondering if you could perhaps elaborate on what you meant by "ASAP." Does it mean weeks or months? I'm not asking to bug you or to coax you into getting it done faster. I just need to figure out if we need to hire someone to get the sorting we want done.
thanks, smart.

also, if you're interested perhaps we could pay you instead of someone else Smiley

Thanks
