Hi,

I am the developer of this component:
http://simple-review.com/

It is a reviewing component (dvds, games, etc) and it currently has a simple commenting system consisting of:
*user's name
*user's rating on the product being reviewed
*user's avatar
*user's comment

It also uses the security images plugin to provide captcha. You can see an example here:
http://sardless.com/reviews/77-Infinito_2017-We_Are_Dark.html

Users have been asking to replace the built in commenting engine with jComments. I use jComments on another site and I think it is great so I fully support this request and would rather use jComments as the commenting engine.

Basically the custom fields I need are:
*rating - a float value which has a min and max value. It is also possible in the future that there is more than one rating field e.g. a user might rate a restaurants service and value for money.
*avatar - this image would ideally be able to come from community builder or another social plugin.

Do you think it is possible to integrate this? Are you able to provide assistance?

Thank you for your time.

The JComments doesn't have any content rating function and I'm not going to add it in nearest future. So if you want to use JComments instead built-in comments you need to separate rating feature with comments in SimpleReview extension.

Hello,

I am also a user of Simple Review and I have just installed JComments. I have read the 3 above posts and I would like to try to use JComments with Simple Review anyways. Can you please help me understand how to get this to work?

After I install JComments it asks me what categories to activate JComments for. How do you use JComments for pages that are not apart of the default joomla categories?  With Simple Reviews I might have one page for each product I review and would like to use JComments to allow visitors to post feedback on each page - however since these reviews are not articles they are not apart of any joomla categories. So when I open JComments configuration it asks me to select categories from the list and there is nothing to select - its blank.

If you could help me to get JComments to load and work on the pages I want it displayed on I would appreciate it and I know the other Simple Review's userbase would also appreciate it.

See here: JComments Developers Guide. Also you could check examples of JComments' integration into 3rd party extensions on your site.
