Hey all,

I'd like to reorder the items in jComments, put the comment field first. I managed to achieve that by modifying /components/com_jcomments/tpl/default/tpl_form.php.

But how do you do this properly via a template override?! I tried copying tpl_form.php to /templates/my_template/html/com_jcomments/default/, to no avail Sad.

Please help

May i ask what is a point in override for Jcomments?
There is not tables in Jcomments. And you can easy customize Jcomments absolutely as you wish.

Copy your template folder in "tpl", rename it and customize it as you wish. In Jcomments admin panel choose that other folder (template). Why complicate?

Purpose is to keep consistency overall as a way of working in a project and to ensure future upgradeability without glitches (if possible). thanks.

A OK. Sorry for asking. If you find yourself in problems with free time just copy tweaked template folder to another location and there is no problems with upgrades.

In JComments 2.1.0.0 you can override JComments' template by copying all template's files to /templates/my_template/jcomments/default/. So in this version JComments searches template in /templates/my_template/jcomments/ and after this in JComments' templates folder. In upcoming version JComments will support overriding through /html/com_jcomments/ folder.

This is very important because we don't want to hack around the core files all the time  Wink

Hm.. I've tested and all works fine for me. May be you've missed some steps?

Hi,

I'm having trouble with the override working too. Here are the steps I did:

* Created folder called com_jcomments in my template's /html folder.
* Copied tpl_index.php into that folder
* Made changes to the copied tpl_index.php file and uploaded the new com_jcomments folder to the server (again, in the template's /html directory.)

The changes aren't appearing. Any idea what I did wrong? I've done overrides before and haven't run into this problem.

Thanks!
Chris

P.S. Great extension Smiley

Nevermind... I forgot to make a "default" folder. I should have copied the tpl_index.php file here:

/html/com_jcomments/default/
