A couple of Questions.

Hello first thank you for the module it is great!
Questions:
Is it possible to sort the comments in order of rank (highest vote is on top lowest on bottom). Or what kind of hack would I need to do to do this.
I am a beginner with modules, is there a tutorial on how to run and use the JComments Latest module?
Thank you!

Yes, JComments Latest has such mode - display comments ordered by summary value of votes (positive+negative). You can choose it in module parameters, it called "Show popular comments".

Thank you, I found that but am having trouble getting the module to work on the account of being a 'noob'.
I installed Jcomments latest
went into the modules and made sure it was enabled and then changed it to "Show popular comments" but the comments I have posted on my article do not change order. Is this setting global or is there something else I need to set?

This parameter affects module only. So it will sort comments list displayed by module and doesn't affect to comments list displayed by component (under the article text). Comments in component could be sorted only by date of addition (ascending or descending). I see no reason to sort comments under article in some other order. I think that comments must displayed in same order as they are added - by date. But module can list comments with higher value of users' votes.

Great component, but in my opinion its very useful to have option that comments with best rank are just under the article. So guests can first read the best comments and they don't need to read all other comments. Many sites have this option for article's comments.
In this way voting has no sense.
